Your Standley Lake Volleyball teams opened their season at Aurora Central on 8/25/16.
The Trojans did not have a Freshman/Level IV team.

The Level III team under Coach Brian Allem began strong with good rallies, covering well. The first set went well as the Gators won 25-16. They continued with good hitting, solid defense, and fine court coverage, and they took the second set 25-20 and the match.

In the JV match, the Gators seem to dominate under the direction of Coach Caitlyn McMahon. They served strongly, set well, and attacked efficiently as they took the first set 25-10. In the second set, they recorded 11 aces and won the second set 25-16 and the match.
In the Varsity match, the Gators, under Coaches Dolly Kiessling and Dave Weiland began their season smoothly as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Good court coverage, crisp passing, a varied attack, and excellent blocking resulted in a 25-11 first set win. In the 2nd set, the Trojans scrapped well keeping it close 13-11, Gators. They kept it interesting getting it to 21-19, but the Gators prevailed 25-20. In the 3rd set, the Gators started strong again mounting a 12-5 lead. The Trojans somehow scrapped hard and tied it 14-14 to the delight of their homecourt crowd. The Gators however rallied with good serves, nice digs, and crisp passes bringing the 3rd set home capped with a stuff block by Hanna Davis to win 25-18 and take the first match of the season.
