Your Standley Lake Gators Varsity Football team took on the George Washington Patriots (2-7, 1-3) at the NAAC on 11/3/17 in a conference matchup. The Gators scored first with a Alex France pass to Logan Heeren for 11 yards. In the 2nd quarter, France threw a great 31 yard pass to Tyler Williams. Weston Short kicked the PAT. Brady Kizer ran for a 5 yards TD run. The Patriots blocked the PAT attempt. In the 3rd quarter, the Patriots scored a TD, and Draven Rabideau ran for a 60 yards TD. In the 4th quarter, Draven Rabideau ran for a 8 yard TD, and Weston Short kicked the PAT. QB Alex France went 4-7 for 59 yards for 2 TDs and 1 INT. In the rushing dominated win, the Gators ran for 328 yards led by Draven Rabideau who ran 9 times for 90 yards and 2 TDs. Logan Heeren ran 11 times for 86 yards. Alec Halbeisen rushed 6 times for 38 yards. Tyler Williams caught one pass for 31 yards, and Logan Heeren and Jason Van caught a pass each for 11 yards. Logan Heeren and Tyler Williams led the Gators with 4 tackles each. Ryan Biller, Brady Kizer, Matt Estrada, Zach Johnstone, and Jaren Cosby each added 3 tackles. Ryan Biller, Logan Heeren, Justin Baker, Jaren Cosby, and Zach Johnstone had a sack. Ryan Biller and Brady Kizer each recovered a fumble.
With the win, the Gators' record improves to 8-2 (4-1). Next up the Gators play the Pueblo West Patriots (9-1, 4-1) away Nov. 11 at 1p for the first round of the playoffs.
Also the Gator JV Football team beat Dakota Ridge 25-7 in a non-conference match. Their record improves to 6-3 (1-2).
