Jog In The Bog is an annual 5K and sometimes 1K fun run/walk fundraiser. It began in 1999 on Labor Day and has been a tradition that all Standley Lake High School students are aware of and many participate in it. The 5k goes along 104th, to 106th, to Oak, to Countryside past the Countryside Rec Center, to Moore/W 104th Dr, along Ketner Lake, to Independence, to Holland Way, and back to the track.
2018 marks the 20th Annual Jog In The Bog. Can you believe it? This year, we are adapting to feedback we have received and will hold this event on Sunday, September 9, starting at 4pm to allow for students to get to sleep in, folks to attend church, and for just a change of pace! We will have a breakfast for all participants including free bagels, donuts, and/or pancakes.
Who can participate? Anyone, walk, jog, or run. Just represent you and your community!
What will it cost? This year the cost is $30 for the 5k, $20 for the 1k. If you register later, after the preregistration, it will cost $35. On the day of the event, it will cost $40. So register early! $15 of each registration goes to the activity/sport of your choice.
What do I get? A commemorative t-shirt, free food, free water, some surprise item(s), and a chance to win some prizes in a drawing!
Generous local businesses have sponsored the events with various sorts prizes, gifts, food, water, music, sound systems, and recyclables bins. These businesses have been recognized on the commenmorative t-shirts, which have always been taken up by the SLHS community leaving only odd sizes.
Helpful parents have chipped in with their labor in various ways setting up, registering, being course officials, helping out with runners, announcing, organizing volunteers, the clean-up, and recycling.
Students have submitted their artwork to be used for promoting the event and on the commenmorative t-shirts.
Each year we hope to continue the effort. With your help and support, we will!
It's a good time, rain or shine or snow. Come join in the excitement and fun!
