Johnny Roach, Standley Lake

Height: 5-foot-5. Weight: 150 pounds.

Age: 18.

Born: Oct. 25, 1995, in Westminster.

High school sports: Football (running back-linebacker) and Lacrosse (plays for Class 4A defending state champion Wheat Ridge; leads the Farmers with 38 goals).

Grade-point average: 3.89. Class: Senior.

My favorite subject: AP physics.

My favorite athlete: Chris Bocklet, one of our assistant coaches. He plays for the Denver Outlaws.

My favorite team: Colorado Avalanche.

What I listen to: A little of everything, but mostly rock 'n' roll.

The best things on my training table: Chipotle and pasta.

Planned career: Engineering; will play at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

My family: Parents Debbie and Dennis, brothers Pete and Brian.

I would love to visit: Hawaii.

Are high school sports necessary? Yes, absolutely. The discipline and time management helps mentally and keeps students out of bad areas in the school. High school sports are definitely necessary.
